“You’re sweet,” the ginger said with a giggle. That giggle did nothing to ease the now pounding in Pearl’s ears as they stood simultaneously. “I’m Gem, she/her.” The woman, Gem, held out her hand for a handshake.
“Pearl,” hesitantly, Pearl returned the handshake. She didn’t want to be rude after all. “She/her.”
“Pretty name,” Gem commented casually, smile shifting into a more thoughtful one. “Our names are pretty similar, huh? Almost like we were destined to bump into each other someday, ya think?”
Pearl was grateful for the hair and the massive hood that effectively hid her flushed cheeks. “Your name’s really pretty too…” She muttered, hoping Gem actually heard her and she wasn’t just standing there like a bumbling fool.
