    Summary

He stepped out into the morning reluctantly. What might’ve been a sunny day was dulled by the smog of Gotham stretching through the sky. The yard around him was mostly dead with the early snaps of oncoming winter, but faint sounds of wildlife echoed from the woods beyond. A small flock of robins chirped at each other in the outermost grove of trees, earnest to stubborn out the cold.

The door clicked open behind Bruce, and he turned to Alfred. The butler was dressed more casually than usual, disposing of his formal suit for hiking pants and boots. A camo green pack across his waist bulged with hidden supplies. It was such a startling shift that it took Bruce an extra moment to notice what Alfred was holding.

    Bruce stepped back instinctively.

That was a shotgun. In Alfred’s hand.

Or, Alfred has decided Bruce needs to get over his fear of guns. Bruce, desperate for Alfred's approval, tries his best to fight against his morals and his fears.

    Summary

The first few months following their death, Bruce was an empty thing. He couldn't speak, eat, couldn't look people in the eyes. How could he? He killed them, he killed his parents.

The shock of that night evaporated, leaving behind self-hatred and disgust. Bruce didn't understand how people could still stand to look at him. How could they crouch down to his height and offer their condolences to their killer? Could they not see how grotesque he was? A monster in human skin? Were they so fooled by his baby-fat cheeks, the childish whine of a voice not yet dropped in puberty? Why weren't they punishing him? Where was the justice??

...okay. Fine. If they weren't going to get justice for his parents, then he would.

    Summary

I want better for you, he thought, but it was too desperate. Too high of a chance that his voice would crack, that he’d let something loose he couldn’t dare bear to a child.

“You need to do better,” he said. That was appropriate. Professional.

Bruce didn’t respond. A quick glance back gave him the same sight as before, the kid's body curled into itself so only the messy hair at the top of his head was visible.

His heart hurt. He wanted to reach behind him, to put his hand on Bruce’s arm like a comforting parent.

“Take your shoes off the seat,” he said instead, and he kept driving in troubled silence.

Or, five times Alfred didn't understand a young Bruce Wayne and one time he didn't understand an adult Bruce Wayne either.

    Summary

It’s fluff, man. It’s Dick bonding with Bruce, Bruce not seeing his relationship with Hal as it is, and Dick deciding to take matters into his own hands, with the help of all of their friends, to prove to Bruce the thing he didn’t even remember he was supposed to be looking for.

Bruce cranks out 50 squats with Dick sitting on his shoulders, for a bet. Dick looks contemplative.

    “What’s on your mind, chum?”

“I was just thinking…” he sticks out his tongue from the corner of his mouth. “Would you tell me if you were dating someone?”

Bruce cocks his head. “‘Course, chum. Why?”

“Well, it’s just, I feel like you might not. But you know I’m old enough, right? You can tell me about that stuff, I won’t be like, weirded out, or anything.”

    “I know that.”

    Summary

He had barely been allowed to see Ouma. The Team Danganronpa staff were dead set on the idea that he was a bad influence on Kaito’s fragile mental state. (How the hell was he supposed to take that? It was an insult.)

When that didn't work they began telling him that it was also for Ouma's sake as well.

His few conversations with Ouma had actually proved that concept. The guy pretty obviously didn't want to see him. Kaito's attempts to make contact had been entirely rejected.

Kaito bit back a frustrated groan. If he was all there in his own head he knew he could get past that. Knew he could figure out the little bastard. But it felt like his brain was melting. And it had been that way since he woke up. It didn't matter though. He was being selfish now. The sleep deprivation carefully peeled away all of the parts of Kaito that were worried enough to not do this.

He knocked on Ouma's door. And wasn't surprised when the boy answered. The prepared smile quickly fell when he saw who it was.

“Kaito.” he said, voice intentionally flat. “What are you doing here?”

Kaito's heart skipped a beat at his first name. He shook it off. “Can't sleep.”
