“Hi mom, I’m back.” Luz choked on tears seeing the welcoming sight of her mom. She fell into her arms and began to cry. Her mom held on tight to her baby, who was finally home after so long. She looked over her daughter’s shoulder at the gaggle of banged up teens on her porch.
“Luz?”
“These are my friends, mama. They’re going to stay with us for a while.”
