Bruce Wayne is a man of many vices. Everybody knows this, but particularly his family. At night he vanishes into the dark and Wayne manor holds its bated breath for his return.
Is it drugs this night that he has gone out to look for? Is it sex? The fights he likes to get into, underground rings? Or perhaps the wild parties he likes to partake in? Those perhaps the most harmless of his vices.
It is always a coin toss with him. But one thing is for certain. Bruce, father and son, always, always comes back to his family.
Or: Bruce Wayne is Batman, but nobody knows. To his family, he's just a most flawed man whom they are doomed to watch destroy himself night after night.

"Everything okay?" Cory asked, ignoring his brother in favour of his clearly worked-up best friend.
"Yeah, yeah fine," Shawn said, voice a good octave higher than usual. "Um. Can I stay here tonight?"
"Visiting hours are between 8am and 9pm, try again later," Eric's bed said. Cory leaned back to grab his pillow and slam it down vaguely where he thought his brother's head was. A muffled protest satisfied him and he looked back up at Shawn.
"Of course--but what's going on?"
"Thanks." Shawn didn't stop pacing. Cory frowned.
"How much trouble are you in?" he asked. "Do I need to wake up my parents?"
"No!" Shawn half jumped across the room towards Cory, then reconsidered and took a breath, running his hand through his hair. "I mean, it's okay. I'll tell them tomorrow, I promise. But I just need a place to lay low tonight, and Mr Turner’s out of town this week."
"Lay low?" Eric emerged from his bed, pushing himself up on one arm. "What did you do?"
