It has been noted by several contemporary sources that something in the Red Keep shifted after Queen Rhaenyra I (then the Princess of Dragonstone) married Laenor Velaryon, her future king consort. Several diaries and letters have been found that reveal many found it to be less oppressive, a proper court rather than that of an aging and still grieving king.
