His thoughts were cut off by a sharp blow to the back of his head.
Wha— he tried to turn around, but another blow struck him square on the jaw. Mike stumbled back as two more guys grabbed his arms, dragging him into an alley and pinning him against a wall.
“Hey there pretty boy,” the first guy spat. He was ginormous with arms bigger than Mike’s head. In fact he could probably crush Mike’s windpipe without breaking a sweat.

Mike knocks on Harvey's door, beaten and bloody. Harvey patches him up.

Summary
Harvey’s mark appears when he’s sixteen– no, his marks. He comes out of the shower one day to find that his entire torso is splattered with a creative medley of words, many tilted at odd angles, all in different fonts with no cohesive grammatical structure whatsoever: “pool,” “drugs,” “help,” “harvard,” and “trevor.”
On the bright side, this means he might just get into a decent college after all. On the downside, his soulmate will likely be on LSD and thinking of another man at the moment of their meeting.

Mike's parents were soulmates. He always wanted to find his. Until he figured that they were better off without him.
Harvey didn't want to think about his words or the... theoretical person they might belonged to nearly as much as he did. He would probably never meet them- him. Harvey always thought they were probably a him.
