Then, stillness. Knuckles’ body stops moving abruptly, and lays there for a minute or two before there are any more signs of life. Everyone holds their breath.
His hands twitch, then his arms, and then his shoulders. They can’t see his face, but it is clear Knuckles is awake again.
“Knuckles!” Cries Vector, the first to get up the nerve.
He doesn’t move, or rather, he doesn’t immediately turn around to face them. His movements are slow and deliberate.
“You ok, buddy?!” Sonic asks, trying not to sound as afraid as he is.
No response.
Then, Knuckles stands. No hesitation, no limp, nothing.

It definitely doesn’t help the situation that Sonic keeps mishearing words after the initial incident, but at least it’s probably nothing to be concerned about... right?
