Summary
“Oh, but I disagree, Seven,” said Janeway; head tilted and raising a finger playfully at the ex-borg. “Novels have value in teaching us about humanity. That doesn’t have to change just because the novel is an old one.”
Captain Kathryn Janeway decides to play another one of her historical holonovels, Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, and this time Seven of Nine joins her. With Janeway as Jean Valjean and Seven as her adversary Inspector Javert, they will find new ways of relating to one another and to their shared humanity.
What will they make of this new dynamic between them?

Summary
It has nearly been a year since that night on the bridge where Javert had stepped down and allowed Valjean to teach him friendship and mercy. In the months between, he has settled into Valjean's spare bedroom and has come to appreciate and even crave the company of the man he spent decades chasing. He is content and wants for nothing save for there to be less paperwork crossing his desk and less of Cosette's husband in his presence.
Until, quite by accident, he sees Valjean as a flesh-and-blood man for the first time with needs like any other; needs that Javert finds himself echoing, reciprocating, and craving even more of. A man does not crave even the barest touch of his mere friend, so what is this emotion that fills Javert's chest until Valjean's fingers are wiping tears from his face?
