His gloved hands clasped Caine's as he bowed his head, pressing his forehead to the AI's knuckles. "Please, don't consume the others. They aren't…prepared for the…the responsibility."
"Responsibility?" Caine asked.
Kinger swallowed. "Y-yes. They aren't equipped with the correct mindset to sacrifice themselves."
"Sacrifice?" Caine parroted, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Is that what you think you do?"

Walter chose not to respond and turned his head to stare at the wall.
Mulder knew the truth about what he was.

The fingertips digging into his jaw slackened for but a moment, the gall of a mortal making Zeus briefly falter before he spoke, “Persuade me then.”
