‘Ah the joys of student living,’ Henry says, smiling at Alex. There’s something warm in his eyes too despite the cool blue colour. ‘I see you found the dress code,’ he says smoothly, giving Alex a sly smile. His voice is smooth, honeyed and rich even over the vibrations of the music.
Alex’s brow furrows. ‘Dress code?’
Henry pauses. ‘You’re wearing green, are you not?’
‘Green?’ Alex asks, looking down at his shirt and then back to Henry, in a short sleeved yellow button up shirt, then to Pez in lime green. He looks around again – two girls on the dance floor dancing together, one in a deep green velvet dress, the other in a khaki jacket; a group next to them, all in red; someone dancing in yellow dungarees. Everyone around them in one of those three colours.
Oh, fuck.
‘This is a stop light party,’ Alex says dumbly.

Summary
Alex has a theory about himself that he needs to verify. At least that’s what he tells Nora when he texts her and asks her to take him to the gay bar near campus.
“Nothing sexier than disapproving a null hypothesis Alejandro” is all he gets back, and a short “meet at mine.”
The theory, that he might not be straight, isn’t new exactly. There’s always been something about a good looking guy in the locker room that he hadn’t quite put his finger on. And also Han Solo, and Justin Trudeau speaking French. There were also those fumbles with Liam back in highschool that he’d never quite figured out, but he hadn’t done much about the theory until recently. It wasn’t something he’d even actively thought about until earlier this semester, when he had, to quote Nora, become “fucking obsessed with that blond.”

“I’m currently re-reading Pride and Prejudice?” Henry offers, and phrases it as a question because he’s a dimwit.
“Ya, that checks out,” Alex says, cocking an eyebrow. “But I’m looking for something that’s, I dunno, actually fun. You got any recommendations?”
Alex gives him a smile, like this is just the kind of thing you ask a librarian. Henry supposes that actually, it probably is.
“Right, well, I can probably help with that too.” Henry grabs another scrap of paper, scribbles down The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and pushes it over to Alex. “Since you seem like the kind of person who thrives on debauchery and general lawlessness.”

It started at the very beginning of the semester; the very first day Henry started working at the campus coffee shop, and it hasn't changed now, nearly four months down the road, finals week looming ahead.
"Of course," Henry answers carefully, pretending to wipe at the mugs so as to not show off his blushing face. "Assuming the tip is more than satisfactory, that is."

“So,” he says lightly, looking down at Henry. They’re really close together, with Alex sitting half on Henry’s chair. Henry smells like pine and it's doing something weird to Alex's brain. He didn’t think this through. “You’ve instigated contact, apparently. What do you have to say for yourself?”
It’s way too familiar, given that they only met once.
Henry mumbles something into his stupidly pristine collar.
“I didn’t catch that,” Alex says, even though he did.
“I’m sorry,” Henry says, so loudly several people near them turn around. “I was very rude at our last meeting, and I’ve regretted it ever since.”
“Have you now,” Alex says, probably way too smugly. “Tell me more.”
In an alternate universe, Alex and June moved to LA with their father, and Henry relinquished his title and followed his father to Hollywood after his mother's death. Nonetheless, some things are meant to be.

It’s midnight in Kensington a couple of days before Christmas, and Henry’s already had quite enough of the whole deal. With both Philip and Queen Mary on his ass, even Catherine couldn’t shield him much; by the time he finally made it back to his room, he was seconds from exploding. Alex only needed to look up from his work for one second to realize Henry wasn’t okay.
His lips pressed firmly on Henry’s. “Baby,” he whispered, brushing Henry’s hair away from his temple and staring deep in his eyes. “What can I do?”
That’s how they found themselves here, with Alex naked and desperate underneath Henry, biting down on his lip as he tries to keep his voice down so they don’t alert anyone.
