Summary
Leo felt tears well up in his eyes and he let out a wet chuckle. “You’re stupid.”
Jason just looked at him like he hung the stars. “Is that a bad thing?”
Leo couldn’t speak, he just furiously shook his head and prayed to any god who would listen for Jason to understand that it wasn’t even remotely a bad thing, that it was the most wonderful thing in the world, that he was the most wonderful thing in the world. Leo didn’t have to speak, though; Jason always understood him. Jason just opened his arms in welcome, and Leo tumbled right on in, leaning all his weight on him.
They stayed like that for hours, Leo wrapped up in Jason’s sturdy arms and listening to him croon while the world spun. Jason didn’t move, not even when Leo puked in his lap, and Leo felt a tension he hadn’t even realized he was carrying melt off of his shoulders. He felt secure with Jason holding him, like he didn’t have to worry about gravity because Jason was there, and Jason would never let him fall.

Summary
Thanatos studied him for a moment, before he looked back at his papers. “I am not here for either of your souls, Mister Valdez, much as it would please me to put them where they belong. The title ‘Hero of Olympus’ carries a fair bit of weight, and Her Majesty vouched for you both.”
“Oh.” Leo’s head spun a little at the thought of Hera in her Tía Callida get-up squaring off against the god of death, but he dismissed it. “Uh, what do you want then?”
Thanatos's eyes sparkled with interest for the first time since Leo had walked into the room, and he leaned forward over the desk. “Well, you’re a demigod, yes? A hero?”
“Uh, yeah. Last time I checked Ancestry dot com, at least.”
“Mister Valdez, I want you for the same reason any god wants a hero,” Thanatos said. “I want you for a quest.”
***
After getting summons from Death Himself, Leo is tasked with a quest to recover the tools of Fate in order to settle the debt he incurred with his and Jason's lives. The quest is a lot more ridiculous and painful than Leo could have ever imagined.

Summary
Annabeth narrows her eyes at him. “What’s that, and what’s it for?”
“Huh?” Percy blinks, then looks down at his hand, apparently having forgotten what he was holding. “Uh, I’m pretty sure it’s a daisy. It’s not really for anything, I guess. It’s just pretty.” Annabeth just keeps carefully studying it, so he starts to lower his hand, expression gentle and understanding. “You don’t have to take it if–”
“No!” Annabeth snaps, her hand darting out to grab the stem before it can retreat any farther. She focuses very hard on not squeezing it tight enough to bruise the delicate thing. “You said you got it for me, so it’s mine now.”

Percy gives Annabeth a lot of flowers, even before they let it mean anything. As it turns out, he was always giving her more than just pretty things.
