“Yep,” he replied. “I think it helped her feel better. Also, can I just ask…?”
“Yeah, yeah, you can ask ahead,” the girl replied. Before Ekko could ask, though, she began rambling a little Isha summary. “She’s allergic to shellfish; she loves bunnies and beetles, which, weird combo, not gonna lie; she has a habit of biting, but hopefully she won’t bite the other kids, and, what else…?”
“That’s all good to know,” Ekko told her, which wasn’t a lie, “but I was gonna ask for your name.”
“Oh! Oh, yeah, right, makes sense,” the other snorted before reaching a hand out. She had done her nails, alternating bright blue and pink. Ekko squeezed it. “Name’s Jinx.”
Ekko has been teaching for only a month before his boss knocks on his classroom's door to ask if he can welcome in a newcoming student. There is no way he could have expected the kid's mom to be his age and basically about the most entrancing person he's ever laid his eyes on. If he falls for her over the autumn term... What can he say? It's not like he ever stood a chance.
