She's limping towards the pantry when the bedroom door swings open. Steph whirls around, nearly unbalancing entirely. The click of a disengaged safety echoes through the room. Jason Todd stares at her down the barrel of a gun.
Steph blinks. Jason blinks back. He lowers the gun. "What the fuck, Steph?"
"Heyyyyy," Steph says slowly. "Thought you would be. I don't know. Out." After all, it's only just barely morning, sky hazy with the oncoming sun. Steph would still have a good few hours left on the streets if she weren't hemorrhaging intensely out of her side.
He shifts slightly in the doorway. "Yeah. Well. Wrapped up early. What are you—"
"J'son?" A voice slurs from behind Jason's back. He stiffens, ramrod straight. "What'sit?"
Holy shit. Holy shit! Steph's grin splits across her face immediately. Jason Todd has somebody in his bedroom. In his bed, even! No wonder he wrapped up early. Somebody was wrapping up, alright. Jason Todd. Getting laid. Wow. Wonders never cease.
Jason takes one look at whatever shit-eating expression she's wearing and shuts the door.

"Date night," Tim says again. Pictures Jason in full Red Hood get-up at some cutesy candlelit Italian bistro, holding hands over a plate of spaghetti. "Oh my God."
"I should have let you get blown up," Jason says, contemplative. "It builds character, you know."
Speaking of blowing up—"You almost let a bunch of teenagers pull a Riddler because you wanted to make kissy faces at your…" A pained, deliberating pause. "Uh. Partner?"
Jason lets out a long, disgruntled breath. "Boyfriend," he finally says, each syllable punching out of him reluctantly. "He's my boyfriend."
"Ohhh," Tim says, nodding slowly. Jason knuckles at his forehead. "That's cool." Another horrifically strained beat. "I have one of those too."
Jason glances up at him again, head slightly canted, before he finally says, "Oh shit, that's right. Dick mentioned something about that." He tilts his head a little more. "I didn't know you guys were, like. Still together."

"Shhh," Percy's saying, so quiet Jason can barely hear him. His thumb brushes against Jason's temple again, and there's the pressure, cracking and bursting like a bullet exploding from the barrel of a gun. Percy blurs and smears above. Hold on, Jason thinks, hold on. "Everything's gonna be fine, okay?" Jason watches as he swallows, hard, comes back into crystal clarity as he manages a shaky smile cast down Jason's way, for Jason's sake. "I've got you, Jay."
"I know," Jason says easily. Percy's smearing again, into a mess of light and shadow, but at least he's here. At least his fingers are somehow warm against Jason's already cooling skin, passing back and forth against Jason's forehead. "You know," he says. "It's not such a bad way to go."
Percy's face shakes into a haze, cracks open into the swirling streetlight glow. "Jason," he says simply, and his voice sounds thick, wet and sticky. "Jason, hey—"
Hold on, Jason thinks, hold on, but then even that slips away and there's nothing.

"Most of those people are criminals and you know it," Sofia reminds him, but he does have a point. Sofia has crossed paths with Percy Grant precisely the once—when she held him at gunpoint and threatened to bury him alive if he ever tried to fuck around with Jason's inexplicable affection for him. Percy had taken it with cursing, bitching, and a lack of grace that bordered on suicidal. Sofia wouldn't call him the ideal party guest.
But Jason likes him. Somehow, despite the implicit and explicit threats to his life, Percy hasn't made any moves to leave. Jason hasn't made any moves to let him. Which means Sofia has to make adjustments. Allowances. Figure out how in the hell to account for a particularly mouthy and obnoxious blind spot, which begins, as many things do, with carefully controlled observation.
Jason is still watching her, justifiably wary. Sofia just smiles.
"Could be fun," she says.

For a long, long second, there is nothing in Percy's mind. All former thoughts of strangulation or causing a domestic disturbance abate, gone like deer scattered in brush and leaving him staring into the headlights.
It's a gun. It's pointed at him. It's broad daylight, looking somewhere in the ballpark of two in the afternoon, and a woman with dark eyes and an expressionless face is holding him at gunpoint. A man stands off to her side; he does not have a gun in his hand, but his hand is resting on a suspiciously bulky hip. Bodyguard, perhaps.
The woman's stare could shoot Percy down faster than the bullet could.
"Hello, Mr. Grant," she says.
Aha. Okay. She knows his name. That's cool.

"Cold?" Jason murmurs shittily — and fuck, he's right there at Percy's ear. Percy cranes his head to the side and leans away, and good thing that he does, because Jason is crowded up in his personal space like it's the most private conversation in the world.
This is one of many things about Jason Todd: Percy doesn't even think he's actively trying to be an asshole.
Well — no, that's not entirely true. He's making fun of Percy's low threshold for cold temperatures, and has done so ever since winter hit with a vengeance in Gotham ( "It's a northeastern city," Jason says, like Percy hasn't lived here his entire fucking life) and noticed Percy dragging out his heavier work jackets. The question is genuine enough by itself though, which is almost more aggravating. Jason's an observant guy. He's not nice, but he's observant. He asks shit like this without thinking for a second what it could do to Percy's brain, to see him up close and personal and acting like he's concerned.
Y'know. For his friend.
"I don't want your jacket," Percy replies archly, just to maintain his dignity.

Something is different with Shane Hollander, Ilya just can't place it. He knows he probably looks crazed, watching Shane skate to the Metros bench, but he can't take his eyes off him. Shane always seems nervous. But now, his discomfort feels bigger, more palpable. Ilya notices Shane's tense posture, his nervous hands, and his avoidance of Ilya's gaze. Their eyes finally meet, and Shane looks away first, face flushed, clearly flustered.
Their “relationship,” or whatever the fuck it was, hadn’t changed since they last met, had it? Their texts were still a mix of flirting and Ilya pushing Shane’s buttons. The Frequency? The same. Ilya is skating over to where Shane is leaning on his bench when the ref signals the start of the game, cutting his plans short. He thinks about saying something at the first face-off. But Shane doesn’t even look up. Rude! Something is up, but Ilya refuses to let the chance to rattle Shane slip by.

“Shut the fuck up.”, Will whispers because he can’t, he just can’t deal with Mike’s confusing ass right now. The soft light is illuminating Mike’s features, jaw carved out so perfectly, cheekbones high, eyes so dark Will feels like they’re swallowing him. “You are, too.”, he adds.
“Prettier than your lame boyfriend?”, Mike ask, voice somehow careful and urgent at the same time.
“Mike…” Will shivers a little, not sure what to do with himself. It’s ridiculous for Mike to actually believe Will has a boyfriend; if that were the case, he would’ve never stepped a foot into this bed. But somehow, Mike’s need to come out on top compared to the guy he is supposedly dating makes Will break out in goosebumps all over.
“That’s not a no.”, Mike remarks.
“That’s not a no.”, Will whispers, scared to move at all and break the moment.
A soft grin plays at the corner of Mike’s mouth, “Oh, yeah?”
“Yeah.”, Will nods, “But you knew that already.”
