Summary
‘Don’t you have a favourite?’ he asked.
Lyonel leaned in, far too close to be proper. Maekar could smell him, rose perfume from Lys, woodsmoke and beneath it all, him, something vaguely salty, like brine. Of course, there was salt water as much as stag blood in the Baratheons, ruling here braced against the crash of the sea, and the shriek of gulls overhead. Even with all the chatter and merriment in the great hall Maekar swore he could hear the bay beyond.
‘They’re all my favourites,’ said Lyonel, voice dropping. He set down his wine glass. ‘Tell me. Do you like dancing?’
Maekar leaned back in his chair. ‘No I fucking don’t.’
In the aftermath of the spring sickness, with the kingdom on its knees, Maekar Targaryen, now next in line for the iron throne, attends a tourney at Storm’s End. All he wants is to be left alone, but duty is calling. That, and a stag prince has his eye on him…

Summary
There is something wrong with Maekar. Baelor has known it from the moment of the first charge, when the horn sounded and Maekar… did not ride. Did not move at all. It is difficult to see what he is doing exactly, through the thick fog, but it is clear he is not moving.
Baelor shifts targets, taking Aerion off his horse in a shower of spear shards before Aerion and Dunk can even meet. He looks once at Maekar, still on his horse, before he wheels around. He cannot focus on Maekar. This is not like Redgrass, his task now is not to reach Maekar, not to defend Maekar. Not to help. Here, they are on opposite sides, and Maekar… whatever is wrong with him, it’ll keep until Baelor has the chance to deal with it.

Summary
Growing up, Maekar was no stranger to dragon dreams visiting him in his sleep. But no dragons roamed the land of the living, and so he had no cause to believe in any of that nonsense.
Ever since the fateful day Baelor deigns to crack his skull open on his mace, the dragons went away and his night terrors began to shift into ones of a more depraved nature.

Dyanna is not her husband’s mirror image but neither is she his inverse. The inverse would be Baelor himself, he thinks, but he does not say so.
