Summary
In room 1410, Ilya Rozanov is ready to walk out the door after successfully getting his 19 year old hockey rival into bed. He knew how to make this moment happen and he knows what they have to be to each other now that it's over. But as he turns the doorknob to leave, he's stopped with questions he never expected. And giving Shane Hollander what he needs in that moment will change everything.
I note which chapters are SFW vs NFSW, because many of you said knowing meant the difference between reading this on your lunch break or having to wait. (Thank you for wanting to read my work that much.)
Covers the first two years of their rookie seasons (which is mostly skipped over in the show/books). Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Most things are from the show but the timeline is a mix of both; Hunter and Marleau are aged up per the show instead of as young as they are in the books. (Also, Shane and Ilya don't wait *two years*, they stick to the book timeline. IYKYK.)

Summary
“You go first,” Shane says. "With the vows."
Ilya takes a deep breath, squeezes Shane’s hands in his. “Okay, okay, I will go first. But I have this problem.”
“What? What problem?”
“Is a terrible problem. You see, there is this hockey player.”
Shane just stares and then, right there, Ilya can see the moment it registers. The recognition.
A grin spreads across Ilya’s face. It's supposed to be a smirk but it isn’t. It's both too happy and too soft.
“This slow fucking hockey player with beautiful freckles.” Shane is laughing now. Laughing and maybe starting to cry. Ilya lets it hang for a moment. “And a weak backhand.”
“A weak backhand?” Shane knew it was coming and still he’s outraged.
“Yes, very weak.”
They’re both grinning, a little manic maybe.
“And he’s so boring and he drives this terrible car.”
“It’s a normal car," Shane says.
He says his line because he’s perfect. He gets it exactly right. Like Ilya knew he would. Because he remembers. Because they have done this scene before. But this time round they know how it ends too and it's not with anyone marrying Svetlana.

Shane would like it to be known that it is not his fault that the stadium is now full of women carrying lilies. He blames Rose, in fact he blames Rose and every member of the Montreal Metros, especially Hayden.
She said it would be so funny for her to give him flowers. She said it would be so funny that she spread an inside joke with the lilies. Shane is not laughing right now; in fact, he’s being laughed at by every single member of his team.
