Piper knew all her life that there was something off about her dad's sudden disappearance. Her mother had done her best to always tell her and her twin sister about him, making sure they were always loved and cherished when she remarried and had her half-siblings, Elliot and Chloe.
The family was chaotic and dysfunctional but it was built on love. No matter how hard it was to keep afloat with her mother's gifted ability of High Intellectual Potential that made it hard to keep a steady job, the Sinquerra-Gillory-Radovic family was making it work.
Things take another twist when Piper's mother becomes a consultant for the Major Crimes Unit. Her HPI has become an asset in solving crimes, and Piper finds herself intrigued by the mysteries around her.
If Piper just so happens to constantly find herself in the bullpen, pestering her mother's blunt and stoic partner until he finally folds, and is thrown into the mix of solving mysteries that they couldn't solve, she would take what she could get.
Especially when that includes a little danger and Piper wasn't one to turn away.

He’d changed.
The expensive suit and watch were missing. Instead, he wore all black now. A long sleeve shirt, black slacks and black loafers. The black leather gloves were the only thing the same. This fact did nothing to calm my racing heart. Something told me the wardrobe change wasn’t a good sign.
“Oh. You noticed,” Roman Sionis said as he walked closer. “Blood is… difficult to get out of linen, so I like to wear something a little more… forgiving when I’m working. Or playing.”
He stalked up to me and grabbed my chin in an iron grip. Tilting my head this way and that, he hummed.
Then smacked me right across the face.
Right where Dylan had hit me earlier.
My lip split again; the scab ripped away by the casual violence. I cried out and held my freshly throbbing face with both hands. Blood poured out of my mouth and I let it drip onto the floor between my bare feet.
“You know what they say… do what you love and you’ll never really work a day in your life,” he intoned. A grotesque amount of glee in his voice. “You have a part to play now, doll.”
I was really beginning to hate that word.
