Believe it or not, sex was one of the few (read: many) things that made Jason nervous. He spent over a year on the street as a kid, he knew what creeps could do.
Which wasn’t to say he didn’t like sex, just his inexperience on top of the existing nerves weren’t exactly the greatest combination. Roy understood that. Jason knew he did, reminded every time by soft kisses to his neck and sweet nothings in his ear. The ginger never failed to be patient with him, not with this.

Summary
Midwinter is different here. You are used to the snow, the long nights, the cold, harsh wind—and yet, this is not the same winter as the one you know so well.
An exploration of what the main character’s arrival and adventure on Jorvik might feel like first-hand, told through short glimpses into their journey. Follows the main story up until Saving Anne, and thereafter diverges somewhat (though not all too wildly).

The man snorted a derisive breath through his nostrils. “Peachy,” he said with a crooked grin, and despite the humor, there was something dangerous—feral—about that smirk. Maybe it was the rugged jawline or the mangled scars, the blood slowly dripping from the split in his lip or the finger tapping at the butt of his gun; but Roy’s instincts sparked aflame. He needed this man. He was the one.
Before Roy could fully think it through, he barreled ahead and asked, “You got any plans for the next month?”
The man arched an eyebrow, his gaze narrowing as he stared straight at Roy. “No,” he slowly said, the word careful and drawn out with his wariness. “Sounds like you might, though.”

In which Roy hires Jason to accompany him on a trip to pick up an expensive stallion; and while sleeping beneath the stars and hunting rattlesnakes, Roy sees a side to this rough, rugged man that irrevocably stirs Roy's heart.

Not that he’d be happier with any of the other wizards visiting him at all. If Saruman had appeared on his doorstep he’d die of fright. In the shire a saying had become popular after Belladonna Took had run off with the wizard and returned three days late for her wedding some months later: Where Gandalf went there would be trouble.
