“That is not what your caretaker prayed for.” Shu murmurs as something scaly taps Luca’s cheeks, gently forcing the boy to look away. Luca grimaces, unnerved by the texture of whatever is embracing his cheek before realising that it is a webbed wing much like a bat’s that juts out of Shu’s back. “I am not obligated to save the others, only you.”
Luca’s mind spins with panic because he doesn’t have a stone cold heart unlike Shu, and his heart beats with confusion for Shu only has a single wing emerging from his back.
“Wait.” Luca reaches out a hand and clutches onto what he thinks is a stray piece of the sorcerer’s robes. Shu winces instantly, his scalp starting to sting from the little boy tugging on his hair. “If I make a prayer, will you answer it too?”
Or, fate brings 4 kids brimming with magic to the immortal sorcerer who decides to raise them as his own.
