Summary
When the unforgiving sun of the Cliftlands nearly blinds Therion as he opens his eyes, his first thought is that he’s lucky to be alive.
He remembers falling. He remembers landing on his side, a loud crack, turning onto his back before the world went dark. He remembers the look in Darius’ eyes before he was shoved off a cliff. It towers over him, mocking, chiding him for being a stupid boy who believed he could trust someone in this world. Trust is fickle, not to be given out easily, and Therion’s no more than an example of its follies. He’s nothing more than a child who believed the world would be kind to him, just this once.
