Of course, it's a little more complicated than that. There are spirits and spirit coves and tiny green boys and water-wielding samurai, not to mention, oh yeah, the looming threat of the end of the world as they know it.
If the ninja are to succeed in their quest to save the world, they're gonna need a lot of help to keep from messing up. Fortunately, this is where their new powers, abilities, and friends come in. With all of them working together, nothing will stand in their way.

Morro grinned darkly. "Good. Blood is thicker than water, but both can kill a ghost. Let’s see if you can destroy that part of your past, or if it’ll end up destroying you."

It’s a lie that the earth is steady. The earth is moving. Constantly moving. Earthquakes reshape landscapes. Volcanos erupt from the ground. Mountain’s crumble and cave. Mudslides and landslides wipe hills and valleys clean. The earth moves. And so does Cole.

Be out before sunrise, Sensei Wu warned. Cole, Zane, and Jay creep into Yang’s Temple under the cover of darkness, the same, perpetual darkness that’s enveloped Ninjago since the rise of the Overlord. Without a Green Ninja, their powers weren’t enough to stop the ancient evil.
Perhaps one of them could still rise to become the Green Ninja, but that possibility looks slimmer by the day.
