Summary
Harry James Potter was a strange boy.
This was known well by those on Privet Drive. He was polite, they admitted. Too polite, some argued, which was suspicious enough in its own right.
Rumours grew the way weeds did: quickly, persistently, without much substance. And when the subject of these rumours was one such as the Potter boy? These rumours become facts. Accepted by all without question or delay. And the simple fact was that Harry did not belong to Privet Drive. He belonged to the world outside it.
And he knew it.
Or: Harry learns to listen more then he speaks, to watch the way people moved when they believed themselves unobserved. He questions what he has been told, and more importantly, why it was told at all. Friendships come to him in unexpected forms, alliances form not from trust, but from shared doubt and need. And magic begins to reveal itself as more then petty tricks or pretty charms, taking ahold of the Boy-Who-Lived and revealing it's true nature as he begins to unravel his own power.

Summary
Striking emerald eyes bore into the old man's soul. The boy's striking black cloak flowed gracefully despite the great strength of the wind, frost only barely began to touch the edges of the hem.
“Our words have power.”
“Wait-” The voice that had ordered the soldiers he raised like pons on a chess board was left mute as the harsh wind stole his voice.
“Some of us don't need words.”
