This is a story about Helis and his wife — a tale of love, duty, and the choices that shaped him into the man he would become. Set twenty years before the events of Horizon Zero Dawn.
Can be read as a standalone.
In Nonmetallic Shards I softened Helis’s character a lot, and I really like him there. I also like him in the game, because besides the fact that he is insanely GOOD, they for some reason gave him a personal tragedy with the death of his family, let Aloy choose an option where she can feel pity for him during the final battle, and, in the end, he can’t just kill her without turning it into a ritual.
That’s why I picture him this way.
And this story will be an attempt to marry Shards with canon—a prequel.Series
