It's a remarkable fluke that Earth has managed: sending one scientist into space on one-way trip only to discover him back in the solar system after three decades, and sending an entirely different astronaut for a circuit up to Mars and back just for disaster to strike and he's left stranded alone on the planet. Wilder still that the timelines align, and both space-farers end up on the same ship back home.

Project Hail Mary x The Martian crossover because the parallels go crazy and I needed to think thoughts that were not just spiraling about PHM so I rewatched The Martian and roped my other favourite scifi main character into it too. Featuring the dumbest fic title I have ever come up with. -

Summary
When Clint Barton gets snatched off the street, taken to an unknown secondary location, and kept tied up so he can spill his guts about the Avengers' secrets and then die painfully, it's pretty par for the course. There's a certain level of stupid, unavoidable risk that comes with making yourself present for every other city-collapsing threat with a bow and arrow. It's never convenient, but it is standard.
What isn't, however, is the dangerous tag-along he picks up on the way back home and the suspicious things happening when he gets there.

Summary
Wade's into Spider-Man, he knows it, you know it, everyone and their mother knows it. It's been like this since day one, and it isn't changing anytime fast. He's aware that the life of this attraction mostly involves ogling Spidey from a platonic distance and making obnoxious come-ons that get brushed off.

Summary
Grace flexes its jaw, shifts the marker towards one corner of its mouth, then removes the marker without actually consuming it. It makes a sharp pop as it leaves Grace's mouth, brightening the tubing in Grace's nose.
"I've got it reversed," Grace decides.
I unfreeze enough to let out a loud and pointed noise of disgust.
"Yeah, sorry buddy. This isn't exactly my wheelhouse."
Without acknowledging the aborted attempt to eat the marker, nor wiping it's digestive fluids off of it, Grace taps the square it paused over again.
"This is actually a second cousin," It says.
I decide not to ask.

What the title says. About 11 years ago (from my perspective; relativity is weird) I was launched into space onboard the Hail Mary to figure out a solution to the Astrophage problem. Now I live on an alien planet I call Erid, in the 40-Eridani system. Yes, I’m actually Ryland Grace. Ask me anything.
Also, can someone please tell me if Eva Stratt is alive? And ideally send me a video of you punching her in the face? Guess that’s a long shot, but it can’t hurt to ask.

Simon Fletcher was awaiting an execution when he was given a chance to save earth and the stars- to make up for his sins, only for it to all fall apart while he could do nothing.
Ryland Grace studied hard to learn what happened during the Quiet Rapture, but he crossed one too many lines and is now facing his own execution via blood ocean.
They're both facing their own worst-case scenarios. Now what?

Summary
Ryland looked down at his clipboard, where he had written a reasonable script, supplied earlier that day by Adrian. Unfortunately, the moment his eyes landed on the words, his brain supplied only terrible ways to say them.
He chose the worst one.
“I need flowers with prominent reproductive structures.”
The man went completely still.
Ryland could feel his soul attempting to leave his body.
“For a plant anatomy lab,” he added quickly. “For my students. Middle school students. Not–” He cut himself off, because there was simply no end to that sentence that would improve his situation. Instead, he just weakly smiled, and added “Science.”

Summary
En route to Erid, the Hail Mary picks up a signal from an unknown object. It turns out to be a ship– an impossibly HUMAN ship, nearly 12 light-years away from anywhere that might make sense. Curiosity kills the cat, Grace and Rocky get a little bit more than they bargained for, and the Hail Mary might just have a new crewmate.
