Penelope meanwhile has been left home alone for a couple of days – her mother had gone to visit a friend before the festive period – and suddenly finds herself host to a single man, her friend’s brother and the boy she’s had a crush on forever. As the storm rages on, bringing England to a standstill, it becomes clear that Colin and Penelope are going to have to put up with each other until the weather clears.
