His words hung in the thick air between them for a while. He imagined Dankovsky smelling the words, analysing them rationally in his mind before replying.
"I have made it my life's motive to find the cure to death, and I have yet to be able to wave any real results in the faces of my peers. But please, old colleague, do tell me what makes you special enough to have broken through the only thing in this world I still dare to believe in."Artemy feels guilty when he's eating; like he's eating food that could go to starving children, so as soon as the plague ended, he stopped eating. Yet, he can’t figure out why he's so irritable and weak, but especially so damn fatigued every second of his life. When it finally reaches a tipping point, the annoyingly elegant face of a certain Dankovsky is ready to catch him. Albeit not without his fair share of sass, of course.

"Before, during the ambush, the enemies seemingly flew off their mounts", Arthur said with a raised eyebrow.
Merlin's pulse rose, but he tried to play it off as him being an idiot by leaning his head to the side and pursing his lips. "Did they really?"
"They did." Arthur didn't seem to have time for Merlin's antics right now. He crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you have any idea what might have caused that?"
"Oh, well… it's a breezy spring. The winds tend to be very strong this time of year."Or in which Arthur knows about Merlin’s magic, but waits - perhaps not very patiently - for Merlin to tell him himself. But when seeking out a magical beast by the border of the kingdom, they might not have the choice to stay quiet anymore.

Summary
I can see them, dark and knobbly against the red moon hiding behind the roofs of Yharnam. Are they Gods? Looking down at us with eyes not like ours, they sit there, hugging the walls of the nearby buildings. Is it all their fault, I wonder, and not the outsiders after all? Has a rift to the world below been opened? I would not have believed my eyes, nor my sanity, were it not for the other people inside the chapel, each person getting more frightened than the other by their sudden appearance.
Have we fallen into mass hysteria, or are we looking at the faces of our damnation? Unblinking, they look back, with eyes we cannot comprehend. It's awful; it's hilarious. The mighty fall, they do, and we're in the front row of the theatre of death. It's just a shame that I can't seem to remember buying a ticket.

Summary
"You are tainted by the sickness of curiosity," Lady Maria says while backing away from one of the Hunter's onslaughts. Her voice doesn't indicate that she's strained in the least, and she soon launches forward forcefully enough that they feel her long sword penetrate their guts.
"There are far worse diseases to carry in this world," they reply as they roll away as quickly as they can to consume another vial of blood. But Maria is far from slow, and the effects of the vial are soon dispersed again beneath the fate of her blades.
"I wouldn't be so certain of that."
Or, in which Lady Maria and the Hunter both remember every death, making the tension and frustration rise; at a sword-length's distance, of course.

He stared at Artemy, horror-stricken and confused, but desperately trying not to show it.
"There’s no need to go that far—"
"I can’t die."
"What?"
"I don’t die, Daniil. Are you worried?" He couldn’t help but smile a bit. "It will only hurt a moment. I’m used to it. I looked at the time when we entered the house, it’s fine. It will be like nothing happened."
"What the hell are you talking about?…"
"You won’t even remember. Uh, I guess there’s no use showing you, then… But I’d rather take it all now than wait for the wound to heal normally. I’m tired."
