Summary
Yuki stares at the old man before her, processing what Naobito just said to her. “You’d really let me do that?” She keeps her voice even, but her hands are shaking, and her stomach flips. He laughs boisterously, taking a swig from his tokkuri.
“I don’t know why you’d waste your time with them, but yes. They aren’t cheap, though.” His eyes narrow slightly and she knows he’s not as drunk as he pretends. “They’ll still be Zen’ins, and if their kids have our clans’ techniques, they would belong to us.” Her cursed energy boils underneath her skin, outraged by Naobito’s casual talk of owning these girls and their offspring. Still, Yuki sits up straight, refusing to back down. She sure as hell doesn’t know what she’s doing; all she knows is that she can’t leave these girls here any longer. She can’t leave them here again.
“How much?” She asks through clenched teeth. Her anger points inwards, chest aching as she forces herself to play along and buy Mai and Maki’s freedom.
Yuki walks out of the Zen’in compound several million yen lighter with two seven-year-olds in tow.

Choso’s brow shot up, and she turned to look at the house again with this new information in mind. It was beautiful, with tall windows, a wide covered deck with benches, a table, and a stereo, and everything was accented with warm wood.
“Yuki…” She felt her face warm and her eyes sting. “I – you did all of this for us?”
