Summary
Michaela sells flowers for apologies and confessions.
Francesca doesn’t seem interested in either as she helps make people's decisions feel permanent.
When a tattoo parlor expansion brings them together, what starts as business quickly turns into something harder to define. Something that is measured in glances, half-finished conversations, and tension that refuses to stay subtle.
Somewhere in the middle of it all, Michaela realizes this isn’t just another order while Francesca realizes that this isn't just another sketch she can ink onto skin.

Summary
“You have my phone number, right?” she asked softly, as if someone might overhear her, even though they were alone.
Michaela’s eyebrows shot up. “Yes,” she drawled, her tone questioning.
“Well,” Francesca started, eyes darting around. “If you wanted to use it for…non-pick-up-related reasons…” she steeled herself and met Michaela’s gaze then. “That would be alright with me.”
Michaela’s lips slowly spread into a teasing grin. “Oh?” she asked airily.
Her reaction soothed Francesca’s anxiety a notch. “Yeah,” she nodded.
“Alright then,” Michaela winked before she turned around and walked to her car.

“She thinks… she asked for me when she woke up so they called me. She thinks we’re still engaged.” And curse his tone too for being so sympathetic and emotional when he’s saying something that could come straight from one of Michaela’s nightmares.
“What?” Michaela scoffs. “You haven’t been engaged for-”
“Nearly two years.” He says too calmly, even as her own anxiety worsens. “She doesn’t remember that she broke it off because-” He swallows, still some pain to the statement even with his endless support. He probably loves her as much as Michaela does. He probably felt the same terrified panic that was still easing through her chest now.
“Because of me.” She whispers quietly… not a fact she had known at the time but one she was well aware of now after six months of being with her… they had just moved in together for crying out loud, what does he mean she doesn’t remember?
“She doesn’t remember that.” John’s tone is pained but quiet, gentle as he reaches out toward her, but she flinches away from his grip, her mind struggling to process the information he’s feeding her.

Summary
Sympathetic resonance is a phenomenon in which a string initially at rest responds to external vibrations that are harmonically similar to its own without direct physical contact. It’s always made sense to Francesca that when she holds down a key on the piano, those with frequencies alike echo and the sound waves continue to ring in the wooden body after the original note has faded away. It’s physics, it’s music theory, it’s perfectly comprehensible.
At least, it had been all of that until she started noticing the sensation within her, the amplified waves crashing through every nerve in reaction to another person. A stranger. Her husband’s cousin. A woman.- Language:

Summary
How could something feel so natural and so unforgivable at once?
That was the thing Francesca could not reconcile. Not the wickedness of it, which society would have named readily enough if society had known. Not even the betrayal, though that cut its own deep wound. But the ease of it. The instinct. The terrible, unsought understanding of how one woman could want another and be answered without translation. She had thought, once, that desire had a shape. A prescribed form. A body it belonged to.
Michaela Stirling had shown her, in a single evening, how wrong she had been.

Inspired by When He Was Wicked, this version rewrites the original story through Michaela Stirling, transforming it into a romance shaped by secrecy, grief, friendship, and a love even harder won.
