It’s a normal, regular house. No Christmas lights or crazy tunnel-maps of town or holes through the front drywall. On the surface, it’s the nicest place he’s ever lived, but it’s all a façade. They’re just playacting different lives here, trying on being different people. These people, the Californian versions of themselves who live in this big house in a sunny main suburb, have never heard of a place called the Upside Down, have never had to hunt down monsters with no faces and capture them in bear traps. Here they’re just Joyce and Jonathan and Will and Jane. The Byers. Only weird in all the usual ways.
But Jonathan can see the other side of it.
