Summary
Dan wipes his eyes dry, takes a shaky lungful of air in, and gets to his feet. Before Jaekyung knows it, he’s gone, drifting past him to greet the new arrivals.
Their conversation is over, marked with a hollow finality that has Jaekyung left behind again like an afterthought.
Jaekyung glares at his still-untouched yukgaejang and wishes he could hurl it across the funeral hall. When he looks up though, his miserable eyes catch on Halmeoni’s soft crinkly ones in her portrait. She’s still smiling, as radiant as ever, but her smile now seems to bear down on him with a profound heaviness.
His heart is too big for him, Halmeoni seems to be reminding him, her words resounding across to him and squeezing his heart in a chokehold.
I know, Jaekyung wants to shout back, it’s too fucking bad I don’t have one.
(Or, the one where Jaekyung starts off angry and in denial of his fuck-ups, fights with massive guilt, works his way through acceptance and making amends, and ends up with horrifying realization that he’s in love.)

Summary
