Summary
“What have you done to me!?”
Unicorns are beings of magic, eternal and immortal and loved by the world itself. They are not meant to know things such as hunger or regret, much less the mortality of flesh and bone.
They do not simply disappear, no, but they can be imprisoned. His new body is a testament to a whole new kind of human ingenuity and cruelty, yet another way to capture and cage them.
“I had no other choice,” Merlin says gruffly, though there is something uncertain about the way he says it. “Would you have rather been captured? Spirited away with your brethren–.”
“I wish you had let the Red Bull take me!”
Douxie remembers that, once upon a time, he had been more. Ever since he arrived at King Arthur’s castle, it’s like there’s something he’s forgotten, some integral part of him that got lost along the way. Between tasks, he finds himself staring at tapestries detailing the King’s victories across the land over magical creatures.
He tries not to think too hard as to why his heart clenches upon a particular tapestry detailing the hunt of a certain silver, cloven-hoofed creature.

"Rocky did not understand human names and titles when we met. Eridian names longer, give information on Eridian's home, associations, skills." For the first time in ages, he positioned two of his arms together, forming the design that Grace thought of like a family crest, a single design bisected.
"You should teach me to read those before we get to Erid, so I can be polite." As Grace considered the linework, already picking up on some vague ideas from the shapes in Rocky's carapace, something else occurred to him. "So… I picked 'Rocky' because your outer shell looks like stone."
"And for inspirational story of athlete who defeats human system of poverty to become great champion. Eye of the tiger."
"Retroactively, yeah." Grace bent at the hips, getting to Rocky's 'eye' level. "So what'd you name me?"

Summary
Relatively speaking, Grace and Rocky are both somewhat unusual. It brings them closer together.

Summary
For three hours, he’s at the beach, takes off his socks and hikes Ilyukhina’s dress up, and stands in the water. He left the cane on the shore; it hurts to let his frame bear the brunt of gravity unsupported. The reliable tide, just cool enough to chill him a little, laps at his shins.
He closes his eyes and tries to forget about himself, the familiar ache in his joints and spine. Allows himself to imagine something else.
A different truth, a hypothetical, a thought exercise.
Rocky can't bear to lose Grace. But he can bear to watch Grace wither away from a sickness easily cured by Earth medicine even less.
Grace has to make another choice.
Or: After thirteen years on Erid, Grace leaves his true home for Earth. Eva Stratt lives to see him return. Earth takes note of the changes.
