The closest he's come to that are the nightmares about being outed. He doesn't want to even think about what that would entail for him. But he knows.

    Fuck Hollander. He even managed to make Ilya feel sorry for him. Because Ilya can't fathom how dreadful life would be without the option to choose a nice woman to learn to love, if circumstances ever got dire. But Hollander won't have to think of that anymore. Which is nice, of course. Ilya is not a monster. But fuck him.

    And maybe it wouldn’t hurt to have someone to talk to about something else for once. Maybe his obsession with hockey wasn't that healthy after all.
