Summary
Something in the man’s presence changed.
Telemachus didn't need his sight to feel how the man had faltered upon seeing his apperance. He could guess the state of his bloodied face was the reason for it but this stranger had no reason to seem so shocked by it.
After killing hundreds, you'd be used to blood-
“...Telemachus.”
The name was not spoken with certainty.
It sounded as though it had been forced into existence against resistance, dragged from somewhere too deep to reach easily.
Or: What if the suitors planned to assassinate Telemachus before the competition which leads Odysseus to believe his son is dead only to find out his son is alive but different than how he imagined

Odysseus is a woman, she spent ten years pretending to be a man for the war, and another ten trying to get back home to her wife. Everyone she's ever loved (and hated) will now know what's taken her so long to return to Ithaca.

Summary
Glancing in past the door left ajar, Odysseus sees Telemachus and a tall figure standing at the window, facing the sea beyond. The figure - a woman - ruffles Telemachus’s hair familiarly as he bends over in laughter. There are scars all over the woman’s body, and her half-armor is battered and dented and of a make unlike anything Odysseus has yet seen in Ithaca. He’s curious, perhaps slightly suspicious - because being back with his family has softened his heart but it has not dulled his edge - and leans in to get a better view.
And then Odysseus sees her face, recognizes her, and lets out a sound like he’s been punched.
