They had a fairly decent thing going for them. Away from the family and past that lived in the country they were born. Victarion knew that it would never be perfect - that was an impossible dream to achieve for anything - but it was steady and comforting. Until Euron had to go and get involved in something that brought foreign government eyes down on them. Their little life was dancing on the rocks of the past coming back to haunt and the present that aimed a loaded gun at their heads.

Summary
Victarion has a very real fear of turning out like his uncle and after an encounter with his brother that he can't determine was a dream or not, he finds himself starting to spiral. Like he had once before. Except this time he's not at home to deal with it but instead stuck in a boarding school he's fairly certain his dad's new wife convinced his dad to send him and brothers too.
The only sort of saving grace he might find to stop the downward spiral is the girl being forced to tutor him in Math. At least Lyanna wasn't a total bitch like some of the girls he was stuck sharing a dormitory floor with.

Edd didn't know which was better. The loneliness of the kennels back home in the Vale or the strange attention he got at Castle Black. Neither was exactly what he wanted but in a life like this he didn't have the option in choosing between them. At least at the Wall he was fed and clothed, and could tentatively learn what life was like outside a cage. Even if sometimes the safety of a locked cage was desirable to the lack of personal space he was stuck with in his new home.

Except when it turned out that he could no longer sail his crew left him in Pentos where he met a set of siblings just as down on their luck.
Unbeknownst to him, Euron makes a plan of his own when he finds out who his brother took in like stray cats. It sure would be easier to throw down the gods and thrones with a dragon prince to use and a princess to keep distracted all the way in Essos. And it's no miracle that dragon eggs find their way to the last Targaryens.

For almost the entirety of his first life Theon was treated like his strange vision of the world was an illness. That what he was seeing was nothing more than his mind playing tricks or that the sea had blinded him at a young age. It wasn't until he died that he realized that there was something more going on.
That his family was cursed to do their lives over and over again with unspecified ways to truly end it all. His uncle had been living with it all his life like his great-grandfather before him, and their ancestors before them. An endless loop where death was never the end but a new beginning.

There was no explanation for how this came to be. From different places across the world people were taken from their lives to be locked in Winterfell's Great Hall with an unspecified way to escape to freedom. All they had to go off of were eleven journals carrying detailed accounts of many of those within the hall and others not present.
The real question that needed to be asked was whether this group could survive trapped together until they had finished the journals or if they would kill each other before the first was done with.

As far as curses laid upon people by gods went Theon thought his was simply cruel. To curse him for losing faith and not using the inherent magic in his blood correctly. He hadn't meant to lose faith, it simply happened over time, and when it came to his Harlaw blood, well, half the time he hadn't believed there was any power or magic in it.
Not until the gods of the Old Faith took issue with him and used that same magic and blood to bind him in ways he knew as a curse to the Stark family.
