Summary
After the untimely passing of her mother Hornet is sent to live with her older step-sibling in Michigan. Hundreds of miles from home and deep in the woods, she isn’t sure what to make of the new life she’s been forced into. Her half-siblings and their friends all seem determined to make her feel welcome with them. They know what she is, how could they not? Most of them share a father…
Her family tries their very best to encourage her to loosen up and embrace the wilder side of herself. Slowly she begins to genuinely grow closer with all of them. Despite this Hornet can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. It’s not her family that’s weird, though… It’s the woods.

Hornet must move in with her father’s side of the family after losing her mother, due to her two remaining moms not being recognized as her legal guardians. Not everything is as it seems, but her new family makes a huge effort to help her feel safe and at home. Slowly, she begins to grow close to them.
