Vash had won. The dependents had severed themselves from Knives and with the last remainders of his power he had spread spread a solitary wing of his own and carried his dying brother to safety. Washing up on the shores of a simple house, he humbled himself. Prostrate before the residents, the very humans he swore to rain hell upon, he begged for the life of the fool perishing in his arms, the man who would give his life to save everyone.
Now he stood, utterly powerless and alone, and wondered — what had it all been for?
