Princess Mipha stood next to Princess Zelda at the ceremony, wishing for something that was as out of reach as the sun. Wishing, wishing, wishing, always for something she couldn’t have. Princess Mipha held the want away from her heart and reminded herself of her role.
Reciting her lines, saving Hyrule, healing the hero.
This was all she was given.
This was all she would ever be given.
In a fit of madness, Princess Mipha brushed her fingers against Princess Zelda’s. Just for a heartbeat. (No one would know it was on purpose.)
She was utterly, woefully unprepared for Princess Zelda brushing her fingers back.
Or: what if Zelda and Mipha just want to go apeshit.
