“Who are you?” he asks again. Dream huffs, inching closer. His hands clasp behind him, easily swinging the axe onto his back. He steps closer, leaned forward with curiosity gleaming in his green eyes. A sly smile pulls at the corner of his lips. The stranger takes a step back, wary.
“A slayer,” Dream answers, slightly closer to the truth. He’s surprised to not see fear flash across the stranger’s face. Instead, he’s surprised when there’s a kiss of cool metal against his cheek. His eyes glance down to see that silver dagger tipped against tan skin. He blinks, amused how this stranger had brought down his guard so well. It didn’t matter because he spins away, letting the blade slice into his skin just a little. He feels blood trickle out, but makes no move to wipe it away.

“I ran so fast that day, literally out of breath while all I could think about was getting you a bouquet of roses and vanilla ice cream, but—” George interrupts himself with a laugh. “I didn’t bring enough money, and the scrapbooks were on sale.”
If the smile fading from Dream’s face is any indication, the halted heartbeat proves his shock further as they both sit in a short silence. The scrapbook. He had forgotten about it.
Now it just feels like he’s been missing it every day for the past three years.
Or, George knew that moving back here wouldn't be easy. Still, his ex knocking on the door in the middle of the night isn't particularly helping his case.

“Look,” he says, “it’s you.”
Dream turns to look at the charm dangling from his fingers. It’s white and marshmallow-like, with a spherical head that has a simple face carved into it. X for eyes, and a simple open mouthed grin. There’s a little cape, dark green and clasped together by a makeshift eye of ender. It’s clearly meant to represent some smaller, cuter version of him.
“It’s kind of… derpy.” Dream tilts his head.
George giggles. “Do you want it? I can buy it, if you want. It’s supposed to be good luck.”
He blinks in confusion. “I don’t need luck.”
“Maybe not,” George concedes, “but you don’t have to need something in order to want it. Sometimes it’s just nice to have with you.”
He looks down at the charm, and says nothing.
