The music returned, a bold accompaniment of strings, droning in her ears. Then, the woman began to sing. Her voice was smooth as honey, yet bold. Her voice wrapped around each syllable. It claimed every inch of space in the room. It was as if the stage was hers alone. The song itself was provocative in its lyrics, setting the framework for her character. It made Kakania shift in her seat, cheeks warming. She found herself subconsciously leaning forward, bewitched by the woman’s voice.
Suddenly, a pair of purple eyes found her. They locked with hers, trapping her under their gaze. A glint appeared in them, something mimicking intrigue. The singer continued her ballad. However, her gaze remained locked with Kakania’s own.

“W-what?” Klara gulped, feeling her face heat up and thoughts crash against each other. Was this a fever? It felt like one, one that ran so hot it ate away her brain cells, making her act like an idiot with her mouth hanging open, “W-well, you are very beautiful, the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen in fact, and I’m not just saying t-”
“Would you be tempted?” Isolde interrupted. Isolde was undoubtedly beautiful, Klara was not so blind as to not be able to see that, but in her eyes, she saw her lover as mostly cute, not as something sexy for her to ogle. For the first time, Klara allowed her eyes to wander across her body, stopping first at her neck, moving down to look at plump, ample breasts, and finally landing on wide hips. “Do I tempt you now?”

America wasn’t so bad; it definitely beat staying in the epicenter of a war, though Klara didn’t exactly love it. If it were up to her they would’ve stayed in Austria, moved to the countryside the very second they eloped instead of getting on a boat and coming to a whole different continent - at least they had Isolde’s family money to afford a home and put Klara through school for a second time, to completion this time.
They had a nice little home by the middle of as much nowhere as they could get in the city, there was as much vegetation as they could get and few neighbors, perfect for two close female friends to be more than what they presented themselves as without fear of being discovered. She wasn’t sure if the war was responsible for the downer atmosphere of the streets or if it really was just this miserable all the time - their little plot of land, a little piece of heaven on earth, was so colorful and vivid in comparison. All she wished to do was return home and never leave again, to forever bask in Isolde's presence and the colorful flowers in their garden and the sound of the cicadas during the summer months.

She feels like tapping her foot to the beat. The breath comes to her only at the behest of a wonderful voice. The fan almost cracks in her tight grip.
Klara doesn't immediately notice the tears. She only feels them with a salty taste on her parted lips — that's what rudely brings her to her senses.
Klara finally wakes up, and the old admiration is washed away by a wave of anxiety.

Klara meets Isolde on a cruise ship and it goes better than she expected!
