Twilight had planned to sneak along on his daughter's field trip to keep her out of trouble, not he has an additional mission in the same location. He's starting to think Handler is doing this on purpose.

It was hardly noticeable at first. The newscasters just assumed he was getting tired from the drawn-out fight. Endeavour's flames seemed a little dimmer, maybe a little smaller. It was difficult to tell in all the commotion. One large hell flame attack sent the villains back and the helicopter camera caught sight of Endeavour’s bare face, no fiery beard alight. The man didn’t seem to notice, so obviously he meant to turn it off. The next attack, while accompanied by a similar yell, wasn’t as powerful. And the one after that was even smaller. Endeavour started noticing at that point, trying to put more heat into his next blast. It didn’t even melt the villains’ clothes. The grass didn’t catch on fire. The next attack was like the flicker of candlelight and then all Endeavour could produce was a little bit of smoke.

Though he insisted that everyone call him Mr. Mark since he ‘always hit his mark’, but really it was because his name was a mouthful.”
“Wait, he’s the guy that always comes back to life, right?” Percy asked. He thinks about how the color of the man’s eyes matched the flicks of amber gold in his own eyes. The man looked so kind.
“Usually.” was the Camp Director’s response. “But he’s been gone for a while. His most recent death wasn’t exactly normal. Dropped dead in front of all of us one day during breakfast and traumatized all the poor brats.”
“...Oh. I’m sorry.”
