Sicktember Day 13- Chronic Illness
His body simply doesn't play by the rules. Which is why it's been pleasantly surprising, over the past few years, that he's been able to keep his malfunctions covert enough to avoid suspicion. Each faint at work has been in the lounge or bathroom, either hidden in plain sight feigning a nap, or curled in a cramped stall with his neck at an angle. When his GI issues play up, he blames bad takeout or, more profitably it seems, his anxiety. During migraine attacks and feverish spells, he tells the others that he's simply feeling a little ‘under the weather’.
And the good thing about County is that everybody's too busy to ask questions.
OR
Unbeknownst to the rest of the ER, Carter has POTS. During his first ever long shift as a surgical intern, it rears its ugly head to make his life a (barely) living hell.

BTHB prompt- Cradling Someone in Their Arms
It strikes Peter that perhaps this is a serious cardiac event. There could be a serious arrhythmia that he currently isn't picking up on because his hands are shaking too much to provide objective truth, and he needs to get Carter inside, now, because if he doesn't then he's going to lose another student, and he can't even- God, he can't even think about- there's no way he can-
He dispels the thoughts with action. His left arm slips beneath Carter's shoulders, his right beneath the boy’s knees, and he lifts.
Dead weight. Carter's head tips back, neck incapable of holding it up anymore, so Peter has to manoeuvre it against his shoulder, tuck it beneath his chin.
“Alright, man. Hold on, Carter, I've got you. Stay with me, man.”
OR
A POTS AU of the rooftop argument in S3 E13 where, after Carter tells Peter he's leaving for Hicks' team, he passes out.

Dick finds Jason sitting on the edge of Titans tower, just like he had before.
“I’m not leaving, and I’m not letting you fall.” He keeps moving ever so slightly closer to Jason, while also giving him space. He moves to sit about a foot away from Jason, and it feels just like the last time they did this, except it somehow pains his heart even more.
“Why? Dick, every single day I wake up and think to myself that I should have stayed dead, and I know the rest of you think that too. I should’ve jumped the first time I was up here.”Bookmarked by Indi_the_nerd

Summary
The sun is slowly beginning to peek above the collection of tightly clustered apartment buildings in the red light district when Inej sets down her familiar morning routine on the wine crate turned coffee table, saving the cup of heavily spiced tea to serve as a source of warmth on the chilly autumn morning in Ketterdam. Despite the apparent temperature drop, she glides toward the doors leading to the juliet balcony, unlocking the hinge and cracking it open, the city smells and noises immediately enveloping her senses. The cheap perfume from the pleasure houses a few blocks down is inescapable as well as the sounds of crows squawking over the overflowing waste bin at the corner of the street. A small grin blooms across her features, the reality of her life coming to the forefront of her mind.
This is home in the strangest, yet most comforting sense of the word.
