A boy named Dunk did not know the oath he’d made – that once the blood from his blistered feet had seeped through sole and kissed the earth that cradled the stormkings of old, he’d sworn himself to their service in death. Bound to their grave, there was no turning back; no will of his own, no choice of leaving.
It mattered little. Dunk didn’t want to leave anyway.

“Here’s the heart of it, then,” Lyonel continued, “I believe it is the purpose of all men to be bend and fucked proper from time to time. Builds character, wouldn’t you say? Bound to drill some of those true knightly values into even the thickest of skulls. I mean duty. Service. Obeisance. A good knight knows his proper place is beneath his lord.”
He stalled his musings to cup the boy’s face in his hands. Dunk’s eyes glistened like sapphires.
“Do you know your place, Ser Duncan? Or are you really as thick as you say?”
“Yes, m’lord," came the breathless reply, "I mean– no, m’lord. I mean, I am stupid, but I know my place.”
"Good," Lyonel said,
“Then why the fuck do I still see you standing?”
Dunk and Lyonel engage in obeisance.

Summary
“Well, what you said was – a hundred gold. To the man who sticks you best.”
That peaked Ser Lyonel’s interest at last. He had a wild look about him, gazing up at Dunk through a cascade of salt-and-pepper curls, skin blushed from drink and glistening with sweat.
“Man. Beast. God. A giant, perhaps.”
"Yes, but –" Dunk tried to swallow down the nerves in his throat, “What’d I have to do for that? To stick you best.”
Lyonel’s lips split into a grin that bared his teeth, a flash of white in the dark.
“You think you can take the likes of me, lad?”
Dunk is completely oblivious to Lyonel coming on to him, until he isn’t.
Or: many metaphors fit both fighting and fucking in somewhat equal measure.

When Rich reveals the truth to Jake about that time they all did ecstasy during their school play, Jake becomes eager to find out who his best friend really is. The problem is, Rich doesn’t know either. Jake decides there's only one logical solution: turning a sleepover into a structured series of interviews with their friends to find out who the real Rich Goranski is, obviously.

Summary
It’s a small enough thing, the Baratheon stag engraved into the lid. It had perhaps been locked once, but the salty sea air of Storm’s End softens most wood after enough years, and the latch tears clean out when he gives it a good pull. Old too, then. Inside is another bundle of parchment, neatly folded and tied with fraying twine.
More damned papers, he thinks for a disappointed moment, nearly shutting it again- what a waste this whole venture had been. But these do not look like more records. There is something personal in how they have been handled and hidden away, and Renly begins picking at the twine with curious fingers. When it falls away, he unfolds the first sheet, and finds a letter.
Milord Lyonel, it begins.
[Renly Baratheon, young and full of confusing feelings, discovers that he may not be as alone as he believes.]

—With any other man, Lyonel would have fought to the death —Egg continued after a brief pause, as though he were still trying to explain something to the Grand Maester or perhaps to himself—. He would have turned this into a long and bloody war before agreeing to retreat, but he never would have killed Duncan… With Duncan there existed a chance to stop it before it went too far.
Duncan felt the cold spreading slowly through his chest while he remained motionless before the door, listening to Egg speak of the duel exactly as he would have spoken of moving troops or closing trade routes before winter.
Or: They say hell is paved with good intentions, but what happens to those who suffer the consequences of those "good intentions"?

Summary
There was only one Silver Skalitz in Bohemia, and it had already burned to the ground.
It stood to reason that there was only one Henry of Skalitz in the world, too.
No more painful feeling exists than realizing you're in love with a dead man. (Even if you still don't know this particular agony is called love.)
Or: while Hans Capon languishes at Maleshov Fortress, he denies the truth--that Henry was captured, tortured, and killed by Istvan Toth--to himself for as long as he can, until it becomes inescapable.
