He should’ve been able to hear her heartbeat when he ascended the stairs or caught a whiff of the expensive perfume that now lingered throughout the loft. Then again, she used to be the only person who knew how to catch him off guard completely. The only one who knew who he was in the dark, long before he realized she never actually knew him at all.
