“Well, Lieutenant, we found him across from the run down chemical manufacturer in the Narrows.”
Gordon jerked his head to stare at Officer Saurel; Bruce was staring as well, accidentally meeting Gordon’s eyes from his position over Saurel’s shoulder. Gordon frowned, raising an eyebrow, prompting Bruce to not-so-subtly skirt away. Bruce sighed, glancing back and watching as Gordon led Saurel towards the entrance of the gala.
Thankfully Bruce Wayne was ignored, but Bruce clenched his jaw; the signal would almost definitely be lit within the next thirty minutes, while Bruce was stuck wandering around the irrelevant gala.
The worst part was that Gordon would not do it without Batman. When they worked on a case as complex and important as this, they had silently agreed months ago to keep the other in the loop.
Therefore, Bruce Wayne was actively preventing justice from being served. Allowing innocent people to keep dying.

It's a couple days after the city's been flooded and Batman goes on patrol. It's a long night during which he meets people, reflects on the past couple weeks, and thinks about who he wants to be moving forward.
This doesn't really have too much plot, it's more of a character study/writing practice, but I think it turned out well!

The Batman knows he has to stay focused, especially with a case like this. To keep the citizens of Gotham safe, he needs to be the one to find it first. But he finds his priorities shifting and his focus only on one criminal, Selina Kyle.

He whispered the word astounding to the ceiling, and the ceiling said nothing back.
He wished he could make the word sound the same as it had when Zuko had said it.

He felt like a middle school girl with a crush.
Fuck it. May as well lean into the character. Sokka flipped onto his stomach, kicked his feet up, and screamed into a pillow.
Sokka pulled his head out of the pillow, opened his phone, and Merriam-Webstered astounding. He knew what it meant, but he needed to inject it into his very bloodstream. He had to get linguistic with that shit.

It was a wanted poster.
On it was the painted face of a rugged, angry-looking man who wore a fierce scowl. What looked like an ugly burn wound sat on the left side of his face, unfortunately large and evidently caused by a firebender. At the top of the paper, there was a prominent Fire Nation insignia, swirling in golds and reds.
Under the painting read 'Traitor to Sozen and our victorious nation. Wanted alive' and the listed reward for capturing the man.
A thousand gold pieces.
Hakoda blinked wide eyes at what he just read.
Bato grinned, dropping an arm around his shoulders. "This is our Tui and La given golden opportunity."
