El acknowledges his greeting with an expression that’s more grimace than smile. Her eyes drift mindfully over Max’s body. “No change?”
Lucas shakes his head. El pushes the door back behind her and approaches, taking her place in the empty chair. She moves the same way he does— like she’s barely awake, just going through the motions. Lucas can’t help staring as she reaches forward and wraps her hand around Max’s fingers, running her thumb over the cast and scanning every bit of her unresponsive face. She looks how he feels, too. They both do.

Max wheeled herself down the corridor to get some fresh air until she was stopped in her tracks. It appeared the Squawk hadn’t completely cleared, because standing in front of her were Robin and that kind nurse, Vickie, passionately kissing.
Normally when Max had to - unfortunately - walk in on a similar situation she’d immediately tell them to get off each other, but she wheeled herself quietly as possible out of sight, close enough to hear, but hidden from view.
She could hear quiet sobbing, and something about Enzo’s before there were footsteps, a door slam, and finally, silence. Max counted to ten, then turned the corner, taking the opportunity.“So, how long have you and Robin been together?”
Vickie jumped and turned around, looking absolutely petrified.
“Max! Uh, how much did you see? I swear we’re just friends, I just-”

They could never talk properly after Max came back from her coma. And she blames herself so much for it. She misses El more than she can tell anyone.
After all she did fall in love with her best friend.
Since she saw her, she felt weird, different. But they got closer, and at some point it became very difficult for her to ignore those feelings growing. She was too scared to face it, she felt so much anger and jealous about Jane and Mike and once she understood why, she pushed her away. She pushed everyone away because she felt like she was born wrong and like she was gross. She couldn't talk to her friends about it because even tho she knew they probably woudn't mind, she feared things would change, and felt like they woudn't understand. Like it would be a waste of time. She needed more than ever her friends support and still kept avoiding them, because she believed that's what she deserved. In the end, she was never able to confess her feelings, nor express how much she missed her best friend. There's so much she wanted to say, she lost someone again and didn't had enough time to fix things, make things right. And it kills her from inside out.Bookmarked by Jimbotron96

Something inside of her seemed to click when she arrived, a deep sense of calm settling in her soul.
