Summary
The moment between Chris being found and taking Buck home.
Buck dived into the water—the cold a shock to his chest—because even if he never says it aloud, that’s his kid. His. And it feels wrong to even think it. His mother just died, and Eddie is the seed, but no one can tell him what to feel in the solitude of his thoughts. That's his son.

Summary
Eddie is moving, his feet pounding against the floor of Buck’s kitchen as he moves around the island, his movements loud. Something horrible twists inside of Buck, something tells him to protect himself, to move, to get away. Eddie’s hand reaches out for him, and Buck flinches backward so hard his hip knocks against the counter.
Silence falls over the loft, so thick Buck thinks he could reach out and grab it if he wanted to.
“Buck.” Eddie says his name and it sounds wrecked, crushed, and looking at him makes Buck want to throw up because the look on his boyfriend’s face is so devastated Buck can hardly breathe.

Summary
Buck makes his way down the hallway silently – forcing himself not to poke his head into Christopher’s room one last time – and locks the door as he leaves. The sound of the deadbolt turning brings tears to his eyes. It just feels so final.
It isn’t until he reaches the loft that he realizes the shirt he grabbed from the floor is Eddie’s. It smells like laundry detergent and cologne and smoke and something that’s unique to Eddie – a scent that Buck could recognize blind, could find his way to in a burning building.
He leans against the door and cries, allows himself to mourn for Eddie and his team and his childhood and every other thing he’s fucked up because Evan Buckley is a great deal of things, but most of all he is a failure.

Forgiveness is not something that Evan Buckley is worthy of.

Summary
“I’m just gonna get this really quick,” Buck says mildly.
Marvin opens his mouth but Buck’s already toggling on the radio.
“Go for Buck,” he replies, flattening his tone as much as possible.
“How’s it looking over there?”
Buck eyes the barrel of the gun staring him down, Marvin’s finger twitching over the trigger.
“All good, just wrapping up.”
