“Huh,” Tony says as he stares down at them.
He bends down and picks the sunglasses up carefully. They’re in perfect condition, not a single scratch on them. Tony puts them on and pushes them up to rest in his hair even as he tries to ignore the chill that abruptly races down his spine.
“Must have slid the other way instead of off the side,” he mutters to himself as he resolutely ignores the fact that he knows that’s not true.
No need to make himself paranoid out here in the middle of the ocean.

“What,” Tony says softly but with a great depth of feeling, “the actual fuck just happened?”
“I believe, Sir,” JARVIS pipes up from the phone in his pocket, an unnecessary amount of what sounds like glee in his voice, “that you’ve once again managed to maintain your closely guarded secret identity. Truly your subterfuge skills know no bounds."
“You’re an asshole J,” Tony mutters back as he reaches up to rub at his temple. He either has a headache coming on or a blood clot. At this point he’s honestly not sure which he’d prefer.
"I did learn from the best, Sir,” JARVIS tells him sunnily.

The soldier looked up at him with wide blue eyes and no expression. "Okay."
Tony froze. "Okay," he echoed. "I tell you I came here to kill you and your response is 'okay'?"
"I am being decommissioned," the soldier said, and for one horrible moment Tony thought he actually seemed relieved. "I understand. I will comply."
