Sam Dickinson didn’t consider himself to be a jealous person.
Yet, as of late, something had been plaguing him. This sinking emotion that felt both too still and like a massive tsunami tearing apart his perfect shoreline. He first felt the feeling fester back in Montreal, or maybe a day before, when the Sharks had announced they’d be rapidly flying in some players from the Barracuda to replace some injured players.

Summary
Mike Wheeler had always been completely in love with his best friend. And it wasn't a fleeting crush, the kind that dissolves with time or hides behind forced smiles. It was something that grew with him, that took root in his heart in a constant and almost suffocating way.
Will Byers was the center of his universe, and sometimes that was a problem. Because loving too much is dangerous. It's like walking on the edge of an abyss pretending you're not afraid of falling. It's losing yourself in the other person.
Doubt gnawed at him. The uncertainty of reciprocation was a poison that coursed through his veins and dominated his thoughts. He felt rejected even before opening his mouth. Even before having the chance to say anything.
Mike didn't believe he would be able to win him over. Not when the other's heart was already committed.
"If I had known… if I had had even the smallest clue that you were thinking that… God, Will. I would have spelled it out in the sky. I would have begged you. I was… I am… desperate for you. In every way."

“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.
