Summary
Once upon a time, there was a genius and his friend, who thought more fondly of each other than friend could cover, although they had yet to admit it to each other. The genius, thinking wistfully on days when they were younger, had been struck by an idea then. After some experimentation he had created a talisman that essentially created a door to another time, where one longing to see a long lost face could go and see that person again, and return back at the end. After all, he was not interested in reliving those long, painful years even if he could change some things for the better. Once had been more than enough.
He offered it to his dear friend first, thinking of a young woman who had inspired and sheltered them both in times of turmoil “Wen Ning, you could see your sister again! You should get the chance first, then you can tell me if it's safe for me and Lan Zhan to use it as well.”
So he had taken the chance, to wander back many many years, to when they were children, and the world was simpler. But he didn't tell Wei Wuxian of all of his plans back in this time.- Language:

Summary

“I don’t understand,” Wei Wuxian said, while his alternate self continued to stare at him with almost a look of hurt in his eyes. There was longing in there too, which Wei Wuxian would have easily recognised if he paid enough attention. “How could you not get together, after everything. What even went on in the Guanyin Temple if you didn’t confess?”
“The Guanyin Temple,” Wei Ying repeated incredulously. “You’re asking me if I confessed at — honestly, a lot went on that day. It was a life and death situation. There was no confessing.”
Wei Wuxian stared at him, appalled.
(Wherein Wei Wuxian ends up meeting an alternate version of himself who, much to his horror, never married Lan Wangji. Obviously he has to do something to fix this).

When Wei Wuxian refuses to acknowledge him, Lan Wangji looks at Wen Ning, who could only offer a sheepish smile, “Second Master Lan, he’s very drunk.”
“I’m not!” Wei Wuxian whacks Wen Ning on his arm. As if flustered, Wei Wuxian stands up and whirls around abruptly to face Lan Wangji, repeating gravely, “I’m not.”
“Mm,” Lan Wangji replies calmly, reaching out to remove the wine jar from his grip and setting it gently on the table. “Come back with me.”
Wei Wuxian slumps back down in his seat, “I don’t want to. I don’t like the guest room. I’ll just stay here. I’ll stay with Wen Ning. You welcome me right, Wen Ning?”
Wen Ning nods obligingly. Then he looks past Wei Wuxian to see Lan Wangji glaring daggers at him, and shakes his head frantically.
Wei Wuxian has a (sorta) fight with his (sorta) boyfriend, gets drunk, and goes to Wen Ning to complain.

Summary
Lan Xichen, wary, exhausted, and slightly traumatised after years of listening to Wangxian's very loud and very enthusiastic everyday activities, makes an impromptu trip to the past, a few days before Wei Wuxian is set to return from the dead.
Obviously his primary objective is to somehow convince them to tone down their overall shamelessness. His peace of mind depends on it.

Summary
It was an extreme, a desperate decision fueled by anger towards the entire cultivation world, a grief deeper than the deepest trenches in the ocean. The realization that Lan Wangji would now have to continue on living a second time without his beloved, where Wei Wuxian had died once again. Where, once more, his love had been taken from him by cruel, unrighteous men who thought they knew better, that they were doing the world a justice.
Lan Qiren had seen the state that his nephew had been in after Wei Wuxian’s first death, what Lan Wangji had done in his grief then, and he feared what Lan Wangji would do to himself if he was left alone with this repeated grief.

In an act of unrivalled stupidity, a group of cultivators, led by the Lan and Jiang sects attack Hanguang-Jun and Lan Sizhui in the hope grief will give them a shot at the Yilling Louzu. Spoiler alert: it doesn't.
