Summary
Viper hated Sage with a passion that most could never experience, much less hope to describe. It choked her, sometimes—that hatred. Like smoke in her lungs, ashes in her throat. Burning and crackling and destructive and fueled by nothing more than old wounds. Forgiveness was not a term in Viper's vocabulary.
Sage wished she hated Viper. There was something horrifying about the ruthless chemist, something that made Sage’s heart beat faster and throat constrict. Viper was, in a way, the worst thing that had ever happened to her. Karma personified, a culmination of Sage's failure and no less cruel for it.
Yet they never could quite stay away from each other, could they?

Summary
Viper and Sage were both flawed; Just as Viper was prone to overworking herself, Sage often cared too much about others and too little about herself. It would take a long time to break those habits, to relearn healthier mindsets and behaviors.
But, in the meantime, they had each other to rely on.

“Oh, shut up,” Emma grumbles, employing an exorbitant amount of self-will to stop herself from stamping her foot against the ground like a child. “Just get on the treadmill.”
Regina glares. “Don’t tell me what to do.”
Emma realizes at this moment that this personal trainer situation is going to be much harder than she’d made it out to be. “Fine. Will you please get on the treadmill, Your Majesty?”
