Obi-Wan hadn’t been comfortable at political parties, and Padmé had noticed, and teased him, and made him blush. He’d told her that he shouldn’t get involved, and Padmé had asked—whispering in his ear, where nobody could hear—if shouldn’t meant that he didn’t want to.
He’d turned to face her, and their lips had brushed, and Obi-Wan had leaned into the contact. Padmé had been laughing then, too, during that first fumbling too-brief kiss.
Here and now, they had the advantage of years of practice and no prying eyes that might condemn them for being a politician and a Jedi.
